About Our Church

The Church of the Harvest meets at the Womans Club of Toano (7965, Richmond Road, Toano VA) at 10 AM on Sunday Morning.

OUR VISION

We are a life transforming community of reproducing disciples seeking to glorify God by participating in His mission to redemptively engage people and the culture for Christ. We seek to reproduce churches in the Tidewater committed to effective evangelism, intentional discipleship and compassionate mercy.

WHAT WE DO

The mission of the church is to go into the world and make disciples by declaring the gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of the Spirit and gathering these disciples into churches so they might worship and obey Jesus Christ now and in eternity to the glory of God the Father (Matthew 28:18-20).

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our beliefs are derived from Scripture and are known in doctrine as Reformed and Covenantal. We believe that the Westminster Confession of Faith with its Larger and Shorter Catechisms best expresses the system of doctrine “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone”(Ephesian 3:20, NASB).

SUMMARY OF BELIEFS

We believe the Bible is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative in all matters of faith and practice.

We believe in one triune God, who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In himself, he is perfectly holy and powerful, altogether just and wise, and utterly good and loving.

We believe that all people are created in the image of God with dignity as they were made to reflect God’s character in all of life. Yet, all are sinners and totally unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy.

We believe that salvation is by God alone as He sovereignly chooses those He will save. We believe His choice is based on His grace, not on any human individual merit, or foreseen faith. This salvation is through Christ alone by grace alone through faith alone.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully Divine and fully man, who through His perfect life and sacrificial death atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him, alone, for salvation.

We believe that God is gracious and faithful to His people not simply as individuals but as families in successive generations according to His Covenant promises.

We believe that God has called out a people to himself, the church, to make disciples from every nation, race, class, and culture. Outside this body, there is no ordinary way to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.

We believe in the visible and bodily return to judge all mankind, to receive His people to Himself, and to renew all things.

We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
